For some time I have had managed the challenges of using various devices at the main desk where work is done. What this means is, whenever hooking up the laptop or more serious 3D scanning capable machines, I either have to push aside the keyboard and mouse I am used to (while simultaneously losing valuable desk space that is often used for paper and pen note taking and sketching), or I climb under the desk, through the rat’s nest of wires (I’ll organize and reroute eventually) to disconnect the main system to let the temporary set up function as the main. Either way, the process becomes a barrier, ultimately requiring increased motivation to get to work, or play.

Queue, the j5 create USB hub. So what’s the plan? We will have a few USB-A extension cables hooked up to the devices (laptop dock, main PC, 3D machine, etc.), to which the female ends will mount at the back of the desk. Our hub will host our peripherals, with the hub USB male located near the extension USB females, allowing us to quickly switch the device the hub is connected to. Surely there is a more appealing way to clean up our desk and support multiple devices, though this should work fine.
